Finding your soul purpose

If you’ve ever wanted to find your soul you might have asked yourself questions such as ‘who am I?’ and ‘why am I here?’ These are questions that many us ask ourselves on a daily basis. It’s usually sparked from a dissatisfaction with our job, relationships or life in general.

The need to find yourself

We’ve most likely all watched films or read books where the lead character sets out to find themselves. When I read Eat, Pray, Love by Liz Gilbert I had the overwhelming desire to book myself into an Ashram in India. I got as far as googling it. The first time I consciously remembering asking myself what my soul purpose was I had an existential crisis! I had no idea. Just like the characters in the film, it sparked a journey of deep self-discovery. I didn’t quit my job, leave my partner or take any other immediate drastic changes to my life – but then the journey isn’t about running off around the globe to find yourself on a beach in Goa (although I’ve tried that too) – it’s about the work that you do on the inside.

Eat me, Drink me, Buy me...

Societal expectations try to define what we need to do or who we need to be in order to be happy. Most of those ‘desires’ are driven by people who want to sell us stuff.... The next car, phone or must have thing. In order to sell them to us, they try to convince us that our lives are inadequate without it – and if only we had it our lives would be perfect. If you don’t believe me, try watching a commercial for a new car. They rarely tell you the miles per gallon, the environmental impact, how many people you can fit in it..... what the commercial shows you is a lifestyle.... Driving through beautiful countryside, or pulling up at the beach and taking out your surfboard. The subliminal message is ‘if only you had this car, your life would be this amazing’ – and by inference, the lack of it in your life right now means that your life is less good in some way. Unfortunately, it’s a lie. Sometimes a very convincing lie.

How often have you desperately wanted the latest phone, been thrilled when you finally get it, only to feel the joy wearing off pretty quickly and soon you go back to feeling the same way as you did when you had your old phone. Most of us fall for these lies though. We live the lives that we are told we’re supposed to want – a certain home, car, relationship, career. We often live in a constant state of busyness, going from one thing to the next, checking our phone on the way, multi-tasking, always on the go. Does that sound familiar? Most of us don’t stop all day. We’re even told that it’s the way it’s meant to be... by the very same people who want to sell us even more stuff to make our busy lives easier.

Our lives become a reoccurring docudrama, where we think the same thoughts and do the same things every. Single. Day. Once we awaken spiritually, we become more aware of this truth – but it still takes courage, strength and will power to change it.

When our mind cannot rest, our heart cannot be content

Human beings need meaningfulness in their lives to feel content – but when we are constantly on the go it’s hard to find the meaning amongst the madness. Far too many feel that life is passing them by; feeling a deep spiritual void and disconnection, often plunging deeper into distraction techniques such as work, alcohol, sex, over-eating, shopping and more. But- just like that shiny new phone- these distractions are like sticking a band-aid on a gushing wound. It doesn’t take away the pain, no matter how much you try.

We need more.

The most noble ‘thing’ we can acquire is the knowledge of the truth of who we really are. Lightworkers often recognise this truth, but it can still be difficult to extract yourself from the societal norms or expectations, and plug into your deep inner truth of who you really are, and what you are here for.

When we chose to come into human form (and we do choose) it’s because it’s a place where we can experience strong emotional states – but that doesn’t have to just be the more uncomfortable emotions – we also get to feel passion, love, hope, excitement, joy, creativity.

Who am I?

We are not the labels we use to explain what we do for a living – a healer, coach, manager, doctor, shop worker. Nor are we the hobbies and interests that we have (although having them can definitely create more of those feel-good emotions). We are soul’s which choose to come to Earth at this time, in this body for a purpose.

I love being asked ‘who are you’ because the truth is I’m an inter-dimensional spiritual being, here to have a human experience.

Our interpretation of who we are is shaped by our life experiences, even as far back as those in the womb, or even past lives. We are all of this. And so much more.

Why am I here?

You came into this life with a purpose – a mission if you like. Your mission is rarely your job, it’s unlikely to even be external. It’s deep inside. It’s something that we discover about ourselves. Something that we have to learn, know or experience.

Before we are born, whilst in spirit form, we have a life planning meeting. We congregate with others in our Soul Group, and agree who will support us in the life we are about to enter. We choose the lesson, the support crew and agree to undertake various challenges or hardship in order to experience whatever it is that we chose.

If you would love to understand who you truly are at a Soul level, why you’re here now and heal and shift any resistance so that you can fulfil your mission with confidence and courage, then you can book a free 15 minute chat with me to explore what’s holding you back and how I can help you
